New Beginning

And so he gave the child

an invisible bird

To sit on her shoulder

The child grew up

not knowing of its presence

only in silence

would she hear a faint birdsong

Years ahead

actually, cat lives later

the child, who was no longer a child,

looked at her mirrored image

As she stared into herself

she began to see a glimmer of colors

moving in a pendulum

catching the light in milliseconds

And so it seemed

that the girl had transformed

into the bird
